The Director of IT Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of an organization’s IT infrastructure. This role involves managing IT systems, networks, and services to ensure their reliability, security, and efficiency. The Director of IT Operations works closely with other IT leaders, business units, and vendors to support the organization’s technology needs and align IT operations with business objectives

Essential Functions IT Infrastructure Management
  • Oversee the management and maintenance of the organization’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and data centers.
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of IT systems and services.
Operational Efficiency
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures to improve IT operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and manage IT performance metrics to ensure optimal performance.
Service Management
  • Oversee IT service management, including incident management, problem management, and change management.
  • Ensure timely and effective resolution of IT incidents and service requests.
  • Collaborate with technology vendors and service providers to procure and manage IT solutions.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the IT operations team to achieve high performance.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to team members.
Budget Management
  • Develop and manage the IT operations budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Monitor and control IT-related expenditures to stay within budget.

Qualifications
  • Deep understanding of IT infrastructure, systems, and operations.
  • Knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) frameworks and best practices.

Required

Education and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is typically required.

Professional certifications such as ITIL, Project Management Professional (PMP), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) can enhance a candidate’s credentials.

High school diploma or equivalent.

At least two years of related experience is required.

Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
