IT Operations Manager

Position

Summary

The IT Operations Manager is a strategic, hands‑on leader responsible for managing the IT service management and delivery function, including Tier 1 service desk ownership, desktop support, on/off‑boarding, vendor management and performance, MSP oversight, and other day‑to‑day operations. This critical role ensures the reliability, stability, security, and scalability of IT systems supporting clinical operations, patient care, and administrative functions.

Responsibilities Operational & Strategic Leadership
  • Lead the IT service management and delivery function across multiple dental offices and corporate locations.
  • Oversee and partner with the IT Engineering Manager on daily operations, including network infrastructure, server management, cloud services, and end‑user support.
  • Manage the IT operational maturity road map.
  • Communicate key IT operational changes and updates to business and IT leaders.
  • Maintain SLAs and improve service delivery through process enhancements.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to align IT strategy with enterprise objectives.
  • Work closely with the IT Engineering Manager on defining and maintaining technical architecture standards aligned with organizational goals.
Team Management
  • Lead and mentor a team of IT service technicians to maximize customer satisfaction and success.
  • Develop training plans and performance metrics to foster a high‑performing IT service delivery team.
Security & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare regulations.
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity protocols, data protection policies, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Work closely with the IT & Security Engineering team.
Vendor & Project Management
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors, MSPs, and software providers.
  • Lead IT projects including system upgrades, growth and expansions, and technology rollouts.
  • Provide strategic direction to internal team and vendor partners based on identified and prioritized activities and/or projects.
Process Improvement
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance IT service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for systems, procedures, and policies.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in IT operational roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows O365 and Azure platforms, including Active Directory/Entra , Exchange, SharePoint, M365, PC hardware, healthcare practice management systems, imaging systems, and network equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC, etc.).
  • Ability to align technical decisions with business objectives and long‑term vision.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Fosters teamwork across IT and business units; promotes knowledge sharing.
  • Encourages creative solutions and continuous improvement in engineering practices.
  • Familiarity with imaging systems and integration with dental practice software.
  • Detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast‑paced office environment.
  • Excellent oral communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Desire and ability to learn new skills and be a team player.
Preferred Experience
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA Network+ / Security+, or PMP preferred.
  • Familiarity with dental PMS platforms (Denticon, Cloud 9, DSN Cloud) and imaging systems strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ITIL processes and ticketing systems (Service Now, Zen Desk, etc.).
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and healthcare IT standards.
