We are seeking Spanish Linguists in Phoenix, Arizona to support our federal law enforcement customer. The Spanish Analytic Linguist will provide operational support, including live monitoring, translation, transcription, and interpretation for ongoing and upcoming investigations. Assignments may involve nights, weekends, and short‑notice shifts.
EssentialJob Duties
- Monitor live and recorded foreign‑language communications, provide immediate verbal summaries, and type English summaries.
- Transcribe audio/video and written communications from source language to English.
- Interpret consecutively or simultaneously into English as required.
- Validate others’ translations/transcriptions, ensuring accuracy.
- Summarize communications with concise and accurate synopses.
- Provide reliable gist and summaries to law‑enforcement officers.
- Attend federal and state legal briefings (Title III minimization) before new investigations.
- Assist officers in preparing evidence and investigation summaries for potential trials.
- Serve as a “fact” witness in federal or state court when subpoenaed to testify.
- Maintain regular communication with the program manager and inform them of available hours, days, and shifts.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the customer or the Program Manager.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with legal work status (only U.S. citizens access classified documents).
- Minimum of one (1) year of translation experience in the required language.
- Demonstrated proficiency in English and the target language, evidenced by testing no more than five years prior to starting work.
- Certification or capability to become certified in listening, speaking, reading, and writing the native language and English.
- Familiarity with intercept systems (Jatom Systems Incorporated Voice Box, Pen‑Link Lincoln) is a plus.
- Strong oral communication skills with law‑enforcement officials.
- Ability to understand slang/colloquial expressions and translate them accurately.
- Native fluency in the target language(s).
- Excellent command of English in written translation, transcription, and summaries.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new software.
- Typing speed of at least 40 WPM.
- Familiarity with various media storage (cassettes, videos, digital media).
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
- Experience supporting defense, intelligence, or law‑enforcement agencies.
- Federal law‑enforcement clearance.
- Flexibility to work short‑notice assignments.
- Availability for multiple shifts, including weekends.

- Shift‑based schedules that may cover 24/7 operations.
- Office environment, with locations varying by assignment.
