We’re looking for a Human Resources Director who’s excited to build, scale, and evolve people operations in a growing company. This role is perfect for someone who loves rolling up their sleeves, partnering closely with leadership, and creating systems that support both high performance and a great employee experience.

You’ll be the go-to HR leader—part strategist, part coach, part problem-solver—owning everything from hiring and onboarding to performance management, payroll, benefits, and compliance. If you enjoy bringing structure to growth, helping managers become better leaders, and shaping culture as a company scales, this role is for you.

* Compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, education, skills, performance, location, and internal equity, in accordance with applicable law.

Type: Hybrid – at least two days per week in-office in Phoenix, AZ

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday–Friday)

What You’ll Do

Partner with Leadership & Drive Strategy

  • Work side-by-side with senior leadership to align people strategy and incentives with business goals.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on hiring, retention, performance, and organizational growth.
  • Help leaders navigate people decisions with clarity, empathy, and consistency.
  • Coach managers on effective one-on-ones, feedback, performance conversations, goal and KPI setting, and development plans.
  • Design and roll out assessments and training programs that uplevel employees and support department growth.
  • Continuously improve how we develop talent across the company.
Own Performance & Employee Experience
  • Create, document, and train the team on HR processes, policies, and expectations.
  • Support annual and quarterly performance reviews, promotions, raises, improvement plans, and offboarding when needed.
  • Manage and audit Performance Trackers to keep feedback timely and actionable.
  • Review monthly employee surveys and turn insights into real improvements.
  • Analyze Desk Time data weekly and share practical reports with leadership.
  • Own the full hiring process—from job postings to offer letters to Day One onboarding.
  • Create job descriptions, pay scales, and employment agreements that are clear and competitive.
  • Post roles, screen resumes, and run first-round interviews.
  • Manage onboarding/offboarding, background checks, E-Verify, and paperwork.
  • Ensure every new hire feels welcomed, informed, and set up for success.
  • Maintain and update employee files, ensuring all required documentation is complete.
  • Proactively audit and update records and follow up to close any gaps.
Lead HR Operations & Compliance
  • Oversee HR programs including compensation, benefits, leave, employee relations, investigations, and compliance.
  • Keep the employee handbook, HR templates, and policies up to date and compliant.
  • Balance risk management with a practical, people-first approach.
  • Build transparent pay structures aligned with company values and market data.
  • Conduct annual compensation benchmarking and provide recommendations.
  • Manage HRIS (Gusto), payroll, PTO/PST, expenses, and state payroll registrations.
  • Lead benefits enrollment, education, and ongoing improvements.
  • Continuously evaluate HR tools and processes to support scale and efficiency.
Be the Go-To HR Leader
  • Lead company meetings and communication.
  • Develop and manage the HR budget.
  • Deliver monthly reporting and consistently hit department goals.
  • Be responsive, approachable, and solutions-focused—supporting employees and managers within 24 business hours.
  • Jump in where needed as the company grows and evolves.
What We’re Looking For
  • 10+ years of HR experience, with at least 3 years as a Director of HR
    , ideally in a fast-growing manufacturing company.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • HR certifications (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of US employment law and HR compliance (Arizona experience a plus).
  • Proven track record for successful talent acquisition, performance management, and employee satisfaction.
  • Must be extremely tech savvy with hands-on experience with payroll, benefits, HRIS platforms (Gusto experience preferred), and project management platforms (Asana experience preferred).
  • Extensive experience with Mac, Google G Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Slides).
  • Ability to strategically partner with executives and coach managers through real-world people challenges.
  • Comfort building structure where it doesn’t yet exist—and improving what already does.
  • Clear communicator with strong judgment, empathy, and follow-through.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and energized by change.
