Position: People Pay Administrator

Position Overview

At Transdev Alternative Services (TAS), we support autonomous vehicle operations across multiple U.S. markets with a strong foundation of safety, accuracy, and operational excellence. Our People Operations and Payroll functions play a critical role in delivering a consistent and positive employee experience. We are currently seeking a People & Pay Administrator to join our Phoenix-based team. This in-office role is essential in ensuring payroll is processed accurately and efficiently, supporting employees with pay-related questions, and maintaining compliance with multi‑state wage and hour requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong attention to detail, a customer service mindset, and a solid understanding of payroll administration in a fast‑paced operational environment.

Benefits

Competitive compensation package of minimum $24.00 – Maximum $28.00

  • Vacation: minimum of one (1) week

Key Responsibilities Payroll Processing & Administration
  • Process daily payroll tasks to support accurate and timely pay cycles.
  • Review, audit, and reconcile employee timecards for compliance and accuracy.
  • Prepare and validate payroll files prior to submission.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee pay inquiries, and system errors.
  • Process manual checks, corrections, and adjustments as needed.
  • Partner with HR and Operations to ensure all employee changes (new hires, terminations, pay changes, leaves) are accurately reflected in the payroll system.
Compliance & Controls
  • Maintain working knowledge of multi‑state payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, and company policies.
  • Ensure payroll processes follow federal, state, and local wage requirements, including overtime, premium pay, meal/rest regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Support internal audits and help ensure payroll documentation meets compliance and retention standards.
People Operations Support
  • Provide excellent service to employees and managers regarding payroll‑related questions.
  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding tasks related to payroll and timekeeping.
  • Collaborate on process improvements to streamline payroll workflows and accuracy.
Administrative Duties
  • Maintain organized payroll documentation and records.
  • Update employee information in payroll and HR systems.
  • Support special projects, audits, and reporting needs.
Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required
  • 2–4 years of payroll or HR/payroll administration experience.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes and timekeeping systems.
  • Knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws (multi‑state experience preferred).
  • High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Google platform and payroll/timekeeping software.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Preferred
  • Experience in high‑volume or multi‑state payroll environments.
  • Familiarity with HRIS or ERP platforms.
CPP or FPC certification (or working toward one) is a plus. Work Environment
  • This role is 100% on‑site in our Phoenix location.
  • Work Schedule:

    Hours and days will be assigned based on business needs, as TAS operates 24/7 across the U.S. Flexibility is required to meet deadlines and support payroll operations.
