Cardiac Nurse Practitioner

Position – Cardiology Nurse Practitioner – Orthopedic Perioperative Clinic

Ortho Arizona is seeking a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner to manage perioperative cardiac clearances for orthopedic surgical patients to include weight management to achieve BMI targets preoperatively. The clinic is currently staffed with a Preventative Cardiologist who will be an integral partner and resource for the Cardiac NP role.

• Maintain a patient treatment schedule consistent with the needs of the Physician.
• Perform cardiac risk assessments and/or bariatric weight management.
• Review EKGs, echo reports, stress tests to include PET Stress and Nuclear Spect imaging.
• Ensure timely cardiac clearances to reduce surgical delays.
• Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients.
• Review patient medical records.
• Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
• Perform complete physical exam and records findings.
• Establish presumptive diagnosis.
• Order appropriate lab and diagnostic procedures.
• Advise patients regarding health and illness prevention.
• Recommend community resources to help patient and family needs.
• Instruct patient and family regarding medication and treatment procedures.
• Assist physicians in recording patient progress.
• Issue diagnostic orders.
• Triage patient phone calls.
• Provide on call services on assigned basis.
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
• Observe policies regarding time off and calling in sick.
• Prioritize work activities based on clinical demands.
• Demonstrate behavior that protects the safety of self/others and of the facility and equipment.
• This role is Monday – Friday. No on-call coverage, no weekends.

• NP certification.
• Minimum 3 years cardiology experience.
• Skilled in perioperative cardiac evaluation and guideline based risk stratification.
• Maintain Arizona State License.
• Maintain ACLS certification.
