POSITION OVERVIEW
The Market Director is a senior, market-facing leader responsible for building and managing trusted partnerships with primary care clinics, physicians, and care teams. This role serves as the primary relationship owner within the market—working directly with providers to advance thoughtful, patient-centered approaches to end-of-life care.
The Market Director plays a critical role in enhancing Counsel Care’s impact within partner practices by strengthening provider engagement, supporting effective collaboration, and ensuring services are integrated in ways that align with clinical workflows and patient needs. This includes acting as a strategic partner to clinics and enabling appropriate education around hospice and palliative care.
Success in this role requires a strong understanding of how clinics operate, the ability to build credibility with physicians, and a hands-on approach to relationship management. The Market Director works closely with internal Benefits Counselors and leadership to ensure patients receive the right information at the right time—delivered with empathy, professionalism, and respect.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIESProvider & Clinic Relationship Ownership
- Serve as the primary relationship owner for partner clinics and physician practices within the market
- Build and maintain trusted, long-term relationships with physicians, clinic leaders, and care teams through regular, in-person engagement
- Develop a deep understanding of clinic workflows, patient populations, and operational priorities to ensure Counsel Care’s services align with practice needs
Business Development & Account Management
- Identify and develop new clinic partnerships aligned with Counsel Care’s mission and service model
- Lead provider-facing discussions that position Counsel Care as a collaborative, value-added partner
- Strengthen and expand existing relationships to enhance engagement, effectiveness, and long-term partnership value
Provider Enablement & Education
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource to providers and care teams on hospice, palliative care, and end-of-life care considerations
- Support clinics in integrating benefits counseling and patient education into existing workflows
- Address provider questions, concerns, and feedback with responsiveness and professionalism
- Collaborate with hospice partners and internal teams to ensure alignment, communication, and high-quality patient experiences
- Act as the market liaison between clinics, Benefits Counselors, and partner organizations
- Share market insights and feedback to inform ongoing improvement and best practices
Market Performance & Stewardship
- Own market-level relationship health and partnership success
- Monitor engagement and outcomes to ensure services are delivering meaningful value to providers and patients
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen partnerships, and enhance Counsel Care’s impact within the market
Required
- 7+ years of experience in healthcare roles involving provider partnerships, business development, account management, or customer success
- Direct experience working with physician practices or clinics in a relationship-driven, field-based role
- Strong understanding of outpatient clinic operations and provider workflows
- Proven ability to build trusted, long-term relationships with physicians, clinic leaders, and care teams
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both clinical and non-clinical stakeholders
Preferred
- Experience in primary care, family medicine, population health, or value-based care environments
- Familiarity with hospice, palliative care, or serious illness care models (direct or adjacent)
- Background in growth-stage healthcare organizations or service-based healthcare models
