Position Profile
The RISE Program Coordinator (Respite in Student Engagement) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the RISE program, which matches ASU students with persons living with dementia to provide meaningful engagement for the individual and respite for family caregivers. The person living with dementia may reside independently, with family, or in a residential facility. This role manages all aspects of the program, including recruitment, screening, training, and support of participating students;
recruitment and screening of families; matching students with families; and providing ongoing education and support. The Program Coordinator ensures safe environments for participation, accompanies students on introductory visits when needed, oversees program evaluation, supports program growth, and ensures compliance with grant requirements.
Responsibilities
- Student recruitment, screening and training.
- Collaboration with the ASU student coordinator promotes the RISE program across ASU colleges and graduate programs.
- Posts student applications and reviews, responds to, and tracks all submissions.
- Coordinates and conducts Zoom or in-person interviews with eligible students in collaboration with the Program Director.
- Meets individually with students post-training to review expectations and obtain signed student agreements.
- Provides ongoing support and guidance to students and families, referring to dementia experts as needed.
- Family recruitment and screening.
- Posts family applications and reviews and responds to all inquiries and submissions.
- Program evaluation and grant support.
- Assists the Program Director with grant applications, reporting, and dissemination of program outcomes.
- Program development and quality improvement.

- Adheres to high standards of personal and professional conduct.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field.
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License and insured automobile.
- Knowledge base of dementia including causes, symptoms, and management of dementia and family support strategies.
- Awareness and sensitivity to cultural diversity.
- Knowledge of self-care, personal boundaries; abilities, limits and inner resources.
- Strong coaching/mentoring and conflict management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a setting which includes persons with dementia.
