Anesthesia Tech

Position Summary

This Anesthesia Technician performs a variety of technical support functions related to provision of supplies and equipment for the anesthesiologists in all patient areas to maintain the area in accordance with all standards and requirements.

• Act as liaison between anesthesiologists and materials and supplies personnel, recommending and assisting with changes in supplies.
• Perform anesthesia technical procedures and operate blood gas analyzing machine in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and established laboratory guidelines.
• Assist with invasive line preparation and monitoring during surgical procedures to provide safe patient care and initiate corrective action for technique breaks.
• Perform room turnovers as part of procedural team to ensure optimal efficiency and availability to meet physician, department, and patient needs.
• Seek guidance from appropriate sources for performing or assisting with procedures based on level of personal expertise.
• Serve as preceptor and orient students and staff regarding functions, duties, and role of Anesthesia Tech.
• Perform daily preventative checks and maintenance of all anesthesia machines including filters, hoses, bellow, and soda lime.
• Review patient, physician, and procedure idiosyncrasies to assess set up, equipment, and supply needs; communicate with procedural team to provide thorough preparedness.
• Re-stock and supply and clean all anesthesia carts and machines for efficient, effective, and safe department operations.
• Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested.

• Minimum 6 months previous Anesthesia Tech experience.
• Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association.
• ASATT certification required.
• Experience working with pediatric population preferred.
• American Society of Anesthesiology Technician (ASATT) certification preferred.
