Position: Patient Financial Services Representative
This is a full-time position, scheduled Monday through Friday, day shift, 8:00am – 4:30pm.
Responsibilities- Coordinate a smooth patient flow by answering phones, scheduling appointments, registering patients and collecting required signatures according to established processes and standards.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for services rendered; assist in obtaining or validating pre-certification, referrals, and authorizations.
- Calculate and collect patient liability; explain financial policies and available resources for alternative payment arrangements.
- Enter payments/charges, reconcile daily payments, balance cash drawer, and prepare daily bank deposits for centralized billing.
- Schedule office visits and procedures; maximize reimbursement by aligning with payor plan provisions; confirm next-day appointments as needed.
- Demonstrate proactive interpersonal communications with patients and internal/external stakeholders to optimize patient flow and satisfaction.
- Respond to requests for patient medical records in accordance with policies and laws.
- Provide a variety of patient services to assist in patient flow, including escorting patients, taking vitals, patient history, assisting in treatment, and distributing mail/fax information.
- Work independently in a fast-paced, multi-task environment, prioritizing work and ensuring timely care while retaining knowledge of payor information essential to reimbursement.
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Knowledge of patient financial services, financial or insurance industry processes with 1 or more years of experience. Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision and work independently. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; proficiency with common office software (word processing, spreadsheets, databases).
Employees working in Behavioral Health settings may require an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit at hire.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with Banner’s systems and processes is preferred. Previous cash collections experience is preferred.
