Banner University Medical Center Phoenix offers an exciting opportunity as a Housekeeping EVS Associate. As a member of the environmental service team, you will be responsible for ensuring our facility’s appearance is top‑notch. The role requires cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining the hospital environment, including patient rooms, special areas such as the Infectious Disease Unit and morgue, and handling cleaning chemicals for blood and bodily fluids.
The position is fast paced, physically demanding, and requires excellent communication with team and medical staff.
Type: Fulltime – 40 Hours/Week
Hours: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Weekend and Holiday Rotations: Required
Weekend Shift Differential: $1/hour flat rate when applicable.
Position SummaryThis position performs all cleaning of patient rooms and/or assigned areas. Works as a member of the environmental service team to ensure the safety, health, and high morale of patients, visitors and staff by providing a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment with minimal interference to others.
Core Functions- Performs a variety of cleaning tasks including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures.
- Empties hampers, transports soiled linen, empties trash containers, and handles all medical waste containers including sharps.
- Maintains supplies of toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap, etc. by inventorying, restocking, and replenishing.
- Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies personnel as repairs are needed. Protects equipment and logs usage appropriately.
- May perform special projects such as windows washing, wall washing, or removal of heavily soiled items or furnishings.
- Responds to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors and meets or exceeds customer service satisfaction goals.
- Operates under regular supervision and has responsibility within an assigned facility/area only. Internal customers include facility staff, physicians, nurses, patients, visitors, supervisors, managers, and executives. External customers include visitors, patients, and employees from other company and non‑company facilities.
Requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision. Must interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions, communicate effectively by phone and verbally, and read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for cleaning chemicals, including filling out chemical identification stickers.
Preferred QualificationsPrevious related experience and familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
