Banner University Medical Center is a seeking a Transporter to join our team! BUMC-PHX is a Magnet facility, Academic Medical Center, Level 1 Trauma Center, and Designated Stroke Center.
As a Patient Transporter
, you will play a very important role in the care and safety of our patients by assisting nurses with moving/transporting patients and medical equipment throughout the facility, including wheelchairs, stretchers, blood products, and lab specimens. You must be alert to the condition of the patient being transported, while recognizing changes in condition, and prepared to act quickly and communicate any changes to nursing staff.
Transporters are constantly on the move in this fast-paced environment, walking the equivalent of 10-15 miles per day. BUMC-Phoenix is a Level 1 Trauma Center, so candidates should be prepared to perform chest compressions when required. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers is required (must meet AHA curriculum guidelines and skills session must be in-person). Banner accepts BLS certification obtained through the American Heart Association (AHA), American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), and American Red Cross.
Full Time positions available:
Evening shift working from 2pm-10:30pm.
Night Shift working from 10:30pm-7am.
Holiday rotations are required in this role. Enjoy an 18% night-shift differential and a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential, where applicable.

Position SummaryThis position transports patients and distributes requested items as needed throughout the facility in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures and protocols.
Core FunctionsCertification for BLS is required.
Requires interpersonal skills to operate in a direct patient contact environment. Ability to interpret verbal and written information/instructions and effectively communicate with others. Must demonstrate basic knowledge of computer skills, organizational skills, problem solving skills, and ability to function with minimal direction in a fast paced environment. If required by facility, may be required to possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the company’s auto insurance policy.
Preferred QualificationsHigh school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Six months previous healthcare or customer service experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
