As a Patient Care Assistant PCA in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, you will be a part of a team providing exceptional patient care at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix. As an Academic Facility Level 1 Trauma, BUMCP is known nationally for innovation and cutting-edge of medical advances. You will have the opportunity to work alongside a multi-disciplinary team that performs some of the most stat-of-the-art procedures in the country.
** This is a 16 bed CVICU-cardiovascular unit, open heart or thoracic surgery patients**. CVICU specializes in common cardiothoracic surgery; coronary artery bypasses and ‘off pump’ bypass procedures. Valve repair and replacement, MAZE, vascular, and thoracic surgeries encompass the additional surgical patient population in addition to a variety of medical cardiac patients recovering from acute MI, CHF and post cardiac intervention.  

Treatments plans include hemodynamic monitoring and/or IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump) therapy, CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy), multiple vasopressors, Swan-Ganz catheters, ventricular assist device (VAD), ECMO (Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation) and advanced respiratory therapies (i.e. ventilators, oscillators, nitric oxide, and rotoprone therapy). As a patient care assistant on this unit, you will work directly with the unit RN staff to help deliver quality care to our patients and their families;

leading to successful, optimal outcomes using the latest procedures and state of the art equipment.
** We have Day and Night Shifts available. Day Shift working from 7am-7:30pm and Night Shift working from 7pm-7:30am.
** You will have the opportunity utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage.  Enjoy an 18%-night shift differential and a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential.

POSITION SUMMARY  This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department.
CORE FUNCTIONS  
1. Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting patients with basic hygiene needs, maintaining an optimum level of mobility and providing assistance with nutritional intake as needed.
