As a Certified Patient Care Assistant for our Pre‑Op PACU team, you are involved first‑hand in providing care that improves patient outcomes and experience while also providing a greater learning opportunity. You will be assigned to the Pre‑Op PACU unit, where you will help patients both before and after surgeries.
Responsibilities- Assist in activities of daily living, including basic hygiene, mobility support, and nutritional intake assistance.
- Collect patient specimens and data—vital signs, input/output, and other delegated measurements—and document them accurately.
- Recognize and report abnormalities or changes in patient health status to licensed professionals.
- Perform procedures and use equipment delegated by licensed professionals, such as blood draws, Foley catheter removal, EKGs, and monitoring.
- Provide receptionist/clerical duties to support department efficiency and communicate with staff.
- Maintain complete patient records—admissions, transfers, discharges, progress notes, and consent forms—and ensure proper charting.
- Maintain supplies of office, dietary, and medical materials and reconcile orders upon delivery.
- Assist with patient transport to critical care units and participate in OR room turnover as needed.
- Work under supervision and manage responsibilities within the assigned unit in a fast‑paced, customer‑service‑focused environment.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in state of practice required for new hires and transfers.
- 1 year of medical clerical experience (hospital or physician office) or related customer service experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational, human‑relations, and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy with keyboarding skills.
- Depending on assignment, a minimum passing score of 85% on ECG or EEG test and completion of an approved interpretation course or on‑the‑job training required.
- For behavioral health settings involving children, possession of an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and signed Arizona Criminal History Affidavit required.
- Arizona Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) licensure preferred.
- Recent healthcare experience preferred.
- Completion of an approved unit secretary program preferred.
