Position SummaryThis position may be located within a Hospital Facility, Patient Service Center (PSC), In Office Phlebotomy (IOP) or Mobile Diagnostic Services (MDS). The role will provide coverage at multiple locations and is responsible for the collection and receipt of biological specimens, proper entry into the company’s computer system, preparation of samples for analytical testing, and distribution of specimens to the appropriate analytical area.
The position includes responsibility for pre and post analytical testing aspects and will perform specified analytical testing as assigned, following the Code of Conduct and all established policies, procedures, and accreditation requirements.
- Collect and process specimen samples, ensuring correct patient and specimen identification and integrity, using appropriate techniques for all age groups. In IOP locations, manage client relationships within compliance regulations to meet business objectives.
- Enter and verify patient demographics and test data, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Aliquot and label specimens per departmental procedures, deliver specimens to the technical area promptly, and assist in workflow monitoring and new employee training.
- Focus on quality: complete documents legibly, follow established methods, maintain familiarity with procedures, and initiate reports for patient reporting and quality monitoring. Meet productivity and quality standards and participate in committees or Six Sigma teams.
- Participate in departmental financial responsibilities, use supplies efficiently, avoid waste, and support cost‑reduction initiatives.
- Communicate courteously with internal and external customers, work team‑oriented, resolve basic service issues, attend meetings, and stay current with communications.

Primarily departmental responsibility with interdepartmental communication. Internal customers include system employees; external customers include nurses, physicians, office personnel, and vendors.
Physical Demands and Environmental FactorsStand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently. Lift up to 25 lbs. Use standard precautions for exposure to blood and body fluids, chemicals, electrical and biological hazards. Use computer, printers, and department equipment.

- Completed phlebotomy program or phlebotomy experience.
- DHS fingerprinting certification or ability to obtain.
- Valid state driver’s license and eligibility for company auto insurance.
- Float positions require travel, flexible hours, coverage at multiple locations, and weekend/holiday availability. May work on‑call duties on weekends, evenings, and early AM.
- Progression through career ladder II‑IV subject to requirements.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English).
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
