Join Bristol Myers Squibb as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in the Rheumatology therapeutic area. This field‑based role involves building and maintaining scientific relationships with thought leaders and healthcare professionals across the Southwest region.
OverviewThe MSL is an extension of the U.S. Medical Affairs organization, driving scientific exchange to enhance medical education, data generation, and patient access to BMS therapies. The role requires strong communication, scientific credibility, and field‑travel skills.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and build relationships with therapeutic leaders and healthcare providers (HCPs).
- Present scientific information accurately and comply with local regulations and ethical guidelines.
- Collaborate with the clinical organization to support patient enrollment in BMS‑sponsored trials, identify trial sites, and educate the community.
- Provide insights on study and site feasibility to the clinical development team.
- Support pharmacovigilance procedures, including adverse event reporting.
- Develop and execute territory and account plans, including referral network building.
- Serve as a liaison for investigator‑initiated research.
- Deliver clinical presentations and respond to unsolicited questions in both group and one‑on‑one settings.
- Represent BMS at medical congresses, advisory boards, and other professional gatherings.
- Collect and communicate medical insights to inform strategy and business decisions.
- Evolve the field medical role to maximize scientific exchange and relationship building.
- MD, PhD, Pharm
D, APP, PA, or NP with relevant experience in rheumatology or a broad medical background. - BS degree required; MD, DO, Pharm
D, MSN, or PhD strongly preferred. - 3–5 years of clinical or research experience in rheumatology.
- Independent, fast‑paced work ability and cross‑functional collaboration experience.
- Current knowledge of U.S. legal, regulatory, and compliance regulations relevant to industry interactions.
- Strong relationship‑building skills within the medical community.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and time‑management skills.
- Must be able to use a company‑provided vehicle for travel between locations as required.
- Must have a safe driving history and maintain a high level of ethics and integrity.
- Field‑based; position requires extensive travel within the managed territory.
- MSL will spend the majority of time in the field with external customers.
Field – United States – US: annual base salary. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities may be available based on eligibility.
