Salary Range: $57,423 - $77,357

Summary:

A Speech Pathologist position is available district-wide to address the speech and language needs of students from Kindergarten through ninth grade, including those in special education and Title I programs. This role involves comprehensive involvement in the screening, diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of speech impediments, ensuring students can achieve their maximum educational potential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct informal screenings and formal assessments to identify deficits in articulation, language, fluency, voice, and hearing.

  • Use assessment results to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) with appropriate materials and strategies.

  • Operate audiometric equipment to assist in diagnosing hearing issues.

  • Participate in state screening initiatives and serve as a resource for hearing conservation programs.

  • Communicate with educational staff and parents about the nature of speech disorders and the referral process.

  • Provide in-service training for teachers on language diagnostic materials, remediation methods, and classroom strategies.

Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate must be capable of performing essential duties satisfactorily, with a strong foundation in speech pathology practices and a commitment to collaborative care.

Education and/or

Experience:

  • A Master's degree from an accredited college or university and appropriate state certification in Speech/Language Pathology are required.

Skills:

  • Excellent language skills for reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical and professional materials; writing reports and correspondence; and effectively presenting information.

  • Proficient in mathematical concepts and reasoning abilities for problem-solving.

  • Must hold an Arizona Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Speech/Language Pathology.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • The role involves regular interaction requiring manual dexterity, auditory and vocal communication, and the ability to navigate various settings.

May require travel between schools within the district and adaptation to various environmental conditions.
