The Department of Pharmacy Services at Banner University Medical Center provides state-of-the-art pharmaceutical service and patient care. The Department of Pharmacy employs approximately 140 employees; with a 1:1 ratio of pharmacists/technicians. As an Acute Clinical Staff Pharmacist at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix, you will have the opportunity to provide comprehensive, collaborative, and progressive pharmacy services to our diverse patient population in both acute and ambulatory care settings. Our clinical services include a multitude of specialties, including critical care, internal medicine, cardiology, research, and solid organ transplant. As BUMC-P is an academic teaching center you will be a part of the training for medical residents, nursing student's, pharmacy residents and students.
Our robust operations and technologies include automated dispensing cabinets, automated carousel, and new sterile and non-sterile compounding rooms.
This is a varied shift position working five 8-hour shifts per week that include day and evening shifts. The day shifts start as early as 5:30am and the latest day shift ends at 3:00pm. The evening shifts start as early as 12:00pm and the latest evening shifts ends at 9:00pm. You will work varied days and shifts within these hours. Required to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients using the medication use process. This position is accountable for documentation of all components of pharmaceutical care they deliver to patients. Oversees the activities of pharmacy technicians and interns, coordinating workflow and approving medications prior to being dispensed. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients being served.
Must assess data reflective of the patient's status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements and provide pharmaceutical care based on those needs. Adheres to local, state, and federal laws regarding the profession of pharmacy practice.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Processes medication orders and evaluates their appropriateness and completeness with respect to patient data including age, height, weight, diagnosis, laboratory values, and other pertinent patient information.
2. Utilizes clinical pharmacy skills to assess patient medication regimens and formulates recommendations to ensure optimal safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness for all prescribed medication therapies. Contacts the prescriber with suggestions for improvement and resolves problems with medication orders as needed. Serves as a resource for patients and the health care team. Provides requested medication information in a timely manner.
