As a night shift caregiver, you will serve as a watchful eye, addressing needs that arise overnight. This is a unique position where patients are typically asleep for most of the shift. You will remain awake at night, allowing family members to sleep soundly, knowing their loved ones are safe. A night shift caregiver can genuinely be a hero in moments of need.

Typical night shifts are 12 hours long, with some start and end time flexibility depending on client needs. This schedule is ideal for many caregivers because it allows for three shifts per week and four days off. Shift schedules are often consistent, enabling you to plan your life around work. There are often additional opportunities for overtime pay. As a night shift caregiver, you will have support from your care team, who are available 24/7 to answer questions regarding client care, so you are never alone.

  • Assist with bathing and grooming to keep your client beautiful.
  • Manage incontinence care to avoid embarrassment.
  • Perform light housekeeping to reduce stress at home.
• KEEP HEALTHY
  • Prepare meals to maintain vitality.
  • Reminder medication to avoid hospital readmissions.
  • Ensure seniors stay out of danger with memory care safety measures.
• Support Others
  • Assist with physical therapy exercises.
  • Act as eyes and ears for hospice care.
  • Report changes in condition.
