The Surgical Technician (Scrub Tech) supports surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, ensuring equipment functions, and assisting the surgical team throughout the procedure.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare the operating room by assembling surgical instruments, equipment, and necessary supplies.
- Assist in the positioning of patients and ensuring their safety during surgical procedures.
- Maintain a sterile field and ensure compliance with established infection control standards.
- Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon and surgical team during operations.
- Monitor the patient’s condition and alert the surgical team to any changes during procedures.
- Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
- Assist with post-operative care, including transferring patients to recovery areas and ensuring a smooth transition.
- Document surgical procedures and maintain accurate records of all supplies used.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Participate in mass casualty exercises and events.
- Complete required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.
- CST certification offered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Minimum of 3-5 years recent experience as a Surgical Technician, including at least six months out of the past year.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.
- Graduate from an accredited surgical technician program or have the military equivalent training course with Certificate of Completion (e.g., 68D, HM8483, 4N1x1).
- Medical Tech or related field.
- Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs.
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
- Valid US Passport with at least 18 months before expiration date. Must maintain a current passport during your stay in Iraq.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, specifically an MRPT.
- Must be able to relocate to Iraq for the duration of the project.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.
