Position Summary
This role facilitates and administers respiratory care, performing routine and complex procedures with a wide variety of techniques and equipment. The position ensures care meets quality standards established by the hospital, department, and regulatory agencies, and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities- Safely perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to established standards, procedural guidelines, and policies.
- Interact with patients, families, and the health care team, explaining care modalities in an understandable manner based on individual diversity and learning styles.
- Accurately interpret and communicate patient data, providing thorough clinical status reports to applicable members of the health care team.
- Assess patient clinical status, evaluate progress toward goals, and recommend courses of action.
- Analyze critical situations and apply appropriate judgment and critical thinking for problem resolution.
- Continuously improve knowledge and skills through appropriate learning experiences and opportunities.
- Work effectively in a team‑based environment, especially during stressful situations involving quickly changing priorities.
- Manage multiple priorities and apply effective time management skills, ensuring timely and accurate patient care and documentation.
- Accredited Respiratory Therapist Program – required
- Post‑graduation hospital experience – preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential – required
- Arizona Respiratory Care Practitioner license – required
- American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) membership – preferred
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification – preferred
