School Psychologists (PSYs) work with students with behavioral and learning problems to allow them access to the Least Restrictive Environment. The typical week for a PSY involves psychological and psycho educational evaluation, student interaction, notes, and meetings. Services are defined on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), which the PSY develops in collaboration with the parents and other professionals. Formal psychological evaluations are performed at least every 3 years.
The PSY meets with the IEP team at least every year. In addition to direct interaction with the students, the PSY consults with parents and teachers to reach the student’s goals.
