Nuclear Medicine/PET Staff Technologist

Position Summary

The Nuclear Medicine & PET Technologist is responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, performing diagnostic imaging procedures, and ensuring the safety and comfort of patients throughout the process. Utilizing gamma cameras and PET scanners, the technologist captures high‑quality images for radiologist interpretation, adhering to physician protocols and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
  • Calculate doses, order radiopharmaceuticals, and administer doses under physician guidance.
  • Perform diagnostic studies on patients using a gamma camera and produce images for radiologic interpretation.
  • Evaluate image quality, verify in PACS, and complete work in RIS.
  • Answer questions from patients, technologists, and radiologists.
  • Perform quality control on gamma cameras and hot lab equipment.
  • Follow radiation safety techniques and safely dispose of radioactive materials.
  • Assist in continuous learning and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Problem solving, technical proficiency with radiopharmaceutical handling, imaging systems, and radiation safety.
  • Excellent customer service, teamwork, and safety compliance.
  • Dependability, flexibility to work multiple locations and varied shifts, and a commitment to patient care.
  • Required certifications: MRTBE, ARRT and/or NMTCB, CPR.
  • Completion of an accredited radiology school program (certificate, associate, or bachelor’s degree).

Requirements
  • Completion of a certificate, associate, or bachelor’s degree program through an accredited radiology school.
  • Certifications:

    MRTBE, ARRT and/or NMTCB, CPR.
  • IV skills.
Physical Requirements

The employee must stand, walk, use hands and arms while handling patients, and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds. Regular vision requirements include close and distance vision with adjustable focus.
