Overview
The Investigator III will investigate, in person, consumer complaints received by the Arizona Barbering & Cosmetology Board and perform routine inspections to ensure compliance with Arizona Administrative Code, State and Federal Law. Through the investigative process, the Investigator identifies issues with licensing and sanitation and assigns unsatisfactory grades, when applicable. The ideal candidate will use a high degree of sound judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to make difficult decisions without immediate supervision.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.
Investigate consumer complaints in person and perform routine inspections to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Identify issues with licensing and sanitation and assign unsatisfactory grades when applicable. Exercise judgment and decision-making with limited supervision.
Knowledge- Techniques and methods of interviewing, interrogating, records searching, and identification appropriate to the agency of assignment
- Federal, State, and agency laws, rules, regulations, and policies governing investigative duties in the agency of assignment
- Principles and practices of the assigned agency's authority and available information-gathering systems
- Civil, criminal, and/or regulatory laws appropriate to the agency of assignment
- Principles and practices of training and leading subordinates
- Applying and interpreting Federal, State, and agency laws, rules, regulations, and policies regarding complex investigations appropriate to the agency of assignment
- Applying and interpreting civil, criminal, or regulatory laws of a complex nature appropriate to the agency of assignment
- Gathering, compiling, and preserving detailed evidence and preparing cases for civil and/or criminal proceedings
- Applying work management and lead techniques, and reviewing and determining that case files are proper
- Oral and written communication and interpersonal relationships
- Perform independently or in a lead role, on complex cases, in a professional manner
- Conduct complex investigations in a prompt, efficient, and professional manner
- Research, identify, and select proper and complex documents
- Assist in training and administrative duties
- Current Arizona Barbering & Cosmetology License, in good standing
