Deputy Sheriff Lateral - Starting Salary of up to $102,960 plus a $7,500 Sign On Incentive
Annual compensation: $73,008 to $98,800 depending on experience

Relocation assistance
- Maximum reimbursement: not to exceed $7,500
- For successful candidates residing outside of Maricopa County
- Reimbursements for employee and dependents with required documentation
Compensation levels are based on possession of a current Arizona POST certification. Out-of-state candidates may waive a trainee academy via an Arizona POST waiver examination; if the waiver is unsuccessful, the trainee rate of $29.00 applies.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum education and/or experience
:
AZ POST certified;
High school diploma or GED;
Must possess an active AZ POST Full-Authority Peace Officer certification; U.S. citizen; 21 years of age at time of application.
Previous/current law enforcement officers
:
High school diploma or GED; U.S. citizen; 21 years of age. Qualified individuals may include those with lapsed AZ POST certification or those who have served as a certified peace officer in another state or federal agency and may apply. Eligibility to gain AZ POST certification through Waiver Testing or successful completion of a basic academy is required. The waiver process includes meeting minimum qualifications and passing a series of assessments within 60 days of hire.
Other requirements: valid Arizona driver’s license; completion of PRA, background, polygraph, medical, and psychological exams prior to hiring.
Physical readiness assessment and standards
Applicants must demonstrate physical readiness through a series of assessments including vertical jump, bench press, agility, runs, push-ups and other measures. Pre-employment standards are defined by PRA guidelines.

Working conditions
Working conditions may vary by assignment and include exposure to harsh elements, dangerous situations, and 24/7 operations. Job requires ability to work any location, shift and assignment.
Essential job tasks
The Deputy Sheriff enforces laws, protects life and property, conducts investigations, responds to calls, patrols, and provides training and administration as required by POST and MCSO policies.
