Police Records Clerk - Alarm Detail Unit

Join the City of Phoenix Police Department as a Police Records Clerk in the Alarm Detail Unit. In this role you will help ensure public safety by managing alarm system permits, renewals, false‑alarm notifications, letter extracts, and payments. You will be the primary point of contact for the public, alarm companies, and the alarm industry while accurately entering data and interpreting the City of Phoenix Code on Alarm Systems.

This Position

We are seeking dedicated, customer‑focused individuals to join the Phoenix Police Department family. Your work will help reduce false alarm activations and support a safer community with integrity, excellence, and community engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Process permit and renewal applications for alarm systems according to Phoenix City Code.
  • Notify alarm users of false alarm activations.
  • Process letter extracts and payments associated with alarm systems.
  • Accurate data entry and record keeping.
  • Interpret City Code requirements and communicate information to citizens and alarm companies.
  • Collaborate with the alarm industry to reduce false alarm activations.

  • Good judgment and responsible behavior.
Salary
  • Pay Range: $22.61 to $33.41 per hour.
  • Hiring Range: $22.61 to $30.31 per hour.
  • Pay range represents the full compensation spectrum. Hiring range indicates where an offer may fall.

Minimum Qualifications
  • One year of clerical experience.
  • Acceptance of criminal background check applicable to the department.
  • Background standards appropriate to non‑sworn positions.
  • Physical ability to operate city vehicles and a valid driver’s license if required.
  • Driving record and insurance as specified for vehicle use.
  • Pre‑screening and driving position guidance available.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Customer service in a fast‑paced phone and in‑person environment.
  • Experience with electronic cashiering systems.
  • Processing, maintaining, and auditing confidential documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer use (email, internet, data entry).
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
