Licensing Coordinator – Behavioral Health

Job Location:

Job Summary

Performs work within the Division of Public Health Licensing Services, Bureau of Behavioral Health Facilities Licensing. Under general supervision, reviews and processes initial, renewal, closure, information update, and change applications for facility and individual licenses to determine compliance with applicable regulations. Makes licensing decisions, issues licenses and deficiency notices as required, follows agency policy on mail and payment processing, and corresponds with licensees, applicants, regulatory bodies, and the public in various formats.

Job Duties
  • Review complex applications and use electronic systems to process them in accordance with state statutes, rules, and policies.
  • Participate in quality standard practices to ensure accurate and timely work and data quality.
  • Provide accurate and timely responses to technical questions and correspondence from licensees, applicants, regulatory bodies, and the public.
  • Handle complex customer situations in a calm, professional manner.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail, other correspondence, and payments in accordance with policy.
  • Complete administrative duties and/or provide clerical support for licensing projects as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned related to the position.

  • Regulatory principles and practices, federal/state laws and regulations regarding licensing requirements.
  • State and agency policy/procedures governing licensing, applications, and inspections.
  • Problem‑solving techniques.
  • Personal computer skills and software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Access, Excel).
  • Performance Management (PM), Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), and Lean methodologies.

Selective Preference

High school diploma preferred; may substitute customer‑service experience.

Retirement
