Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with at least two years of accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical and analytical skills, with a solid understanding of hospital financial operations and the revenue cycle. Experience in preparing financial statements, performing account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and healthcare-specific requirements is highly desirable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- A Level One Fingerprint Card is required
- At least 2 years of accounting experience in a healthcare/hospital setting required.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts, double-entry bookkeeping, the general ledger, and account reconciliation processes.
- Strong analytical and technical skills, with an understanding of the revenue cycle in hospital finance operations.
- Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration across departments.
- High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Support month-end and year-end close by preparing journal entries, adjustments, and key balance sheet reconciliations (cash, fixed assets, payroll, accruals) to ensure accounts are accurate and timely.
- Review and validate general ledger activity for accuracy, proper classification, and GAAP compliance, including appropriate treatment of loans, leases, and investments.
- Assist with Accounts Payable and Payroll processing, provide back-up coverage for these functions, and address employee payroll inquiries.
- Support the Sr. Accountant and/or CFO with budgeting, forecasting, safeguarding assets, financial audit coordination, and other special accounting/payroll projects as needed.
Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for CMC Phoenix roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices, etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that CMC Phoenix in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
