Assistant Controller

$115,000-$130,000 base salary (depending on experience)

Vaco has partnered with a growing, well-established company to hire an Assistant Controller as part of its finance leadership team.

The Assistant Controller will oversee month-end close, ensure compliance with GAAP, and manage key accounting functions, including AP, AR, and financial reporting.

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and strict adherence to established timelines.

Establish, maintain, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to mitigate financial, operational, and compliance risks.

Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP.

Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities in partnership with finance leadership and operational teams.

Direct daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cost accounting, and general ledger functions.

Supervise inventory accounting, inventory controls, and intercompany transactions to ensure accuracy and proper reconciliation.

Partner closely with the Controller and senior leadership to support strategic initiatives, financial analysis, and process improvement efforts.

Assist with internal and external audit activities, including audit preparation, documentation, and issue resolution.

Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes, systems, and reporting efficiency through automation and best practices.

Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management to accounting staff, fostering a strong control environment and high-performing team.

Requirements:

6+ years of Accounting experience

2+ years of management experience

Bachelor’s in Accounting or related field
