Specialist, Accountant - Shared Financial Services

Location

Remote positions are open to candidates based anywhere in the continental U.S. Hybrid positions are available for applicants located in the Phoenix, Arizona area.

Team

The Finance Team supports our chapters through a shared financial services model, providing financial processing, reporting, and tax filing. The team maintains the national office’s financial health through budgeting, month‑end reporting, accounting, reconciliations and payables.

Position Summary

Perform accounting functions for chapters using Shared Financial Services (SFS) to ensure financials are recorded accurately and on time.

Knowledge & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal and external stakeholder interactions.
  • Familiarity with audit planning processes.
  • Proficiency with accounting and information systems, preferably in a non‑profit setting.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with trust, confidentiality and strong business ethics.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Support SFS chapters with accounting functions for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Commit donation batches to Salesforce and process them in Net Suite and the general ledger.
  • Review check requests for proper coding and approvals.
  • Prepare bank and balance sheet reconciliations for review.
  • Record journal entries for monthly financial activity.
  • Create financial reporting packages, including monthly variance reports.
  • Research, analyze data, and respond to chapter staff inquiries.
  • Assist with audit documentation and prepare audit workbooks.
  • Run custom Net Suite reports and queries, and/or use Excel as requested.
  • Build and maintain relationships with chapter leaders.
  • Provide support for the Support Team staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
  • Minimal accounting or financial reporting experience accepted; any experience beyond one year is helpful.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel.
  • Experience with Salesforce and Net Suite is a plus.
  • Prior experience in non‑profit organizations is strongly preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Remote work capability required.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.
  • Work may occur outside of traditional Monday‑Friday hours and standard business times.
Salary Range

$51,100 – $54,800 USD
