What You’ll Do
The Senior Manager of Corporate Accounting reports directly to the Financial Reporting Director of Corporate Accounting and manages a team of finance professionals responsible for managing complex accounting and financial processes, including financial transactions, account reconciliations, account payables, and integrations of WAB’s core banking applications to the Oracle ERP and EPM accounting systems while also providing support for audits and exams.
The Senior Manager is expected to have extensive subject matter expertise, commensurate experience, and the ability to lead and manage functional areas without day‑to‑day tactical oversight.
- Manage Corporate Accounting Operations Teams, enhance operational efficiencies, and implement new capabilities.
- Remain current on relevant rules, interpretations, and industry practices as it relates to accounting and reporting for banks and financial institutions.
- Assess the impact of any changes on the Company and communicate with the relevant parties to ensure changes are correctly implemented.
- Support growth initiatives, including new business lines, product extensions, and M&A, ensuring initiatives are supported regarding launch dates and necessary consideration of changes to systems, internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Manage new product implementations or other initiatives requiring upgrades and/or enhancements to enterprise applications and systems.
- Actively develop relationships across functional areas to ensure cross‑departmental collaboration.
- Assist with external financial audits, regulatory examinations, and similar activities.
- Perform various accounting duties, including review of journal entries, accruals, transaction analysis, accounting research, and ad hoc projects.
- 6+ years of related experience in Accounting, Finance (GL Management, Public Reporting, Analysis), or a similar field.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required;
Master's or MBA in a related field preferred. - Previous leadership experience required.
- Public accounting experience with a Big 4 (or top‑tier) audit firm and/or progressively increased responsibility and supervisory experience at an SEC registrant, preferably in the financial services industry.
- CPA license or advanced degree required.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and ERP.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to influence and build collaborative internal team environments.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and balance multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams to achieve challenging objectives.
- Demonstrated track record of building teams, career growth plans, and organizational strength through leadership, partnership, and a high level of integrity.
- Demonstrated success in cross‑functional team building and the ability to partner with other operations and strategy functions.
- Demonstrated ability to meet and manage multiple commitments and deadlines in a demanding, fast‑paced, hands‑on environment with limited day‑to‑day guidance.
- Proven ability to quickly generate creative approaches to rapidly changing business environments.
- Occasional travel required.
