Overview

The Phoenix Convention Center and Venues is seeking Event Services Workers to perform a wide variety of manual work in support activities such as conventions, luncheons, commercial exhibitions, and theatrical performances. Duties include setting up and taking down riser seats, portable stages, temporary seating, table arrangements, and performing janitorial services. Event Services Workers use equipment such as floor machines, ride-on sweepers and scrubbers, electric carts, along with materials and equipment for cleaning.

Work is performed under the supervision of an Event Services Lead, and some positions work independently as they gain experience. The Event Services Worker must be able to use graphic instructions such as set-up plans and event specs and communicate in a positive and professional manner with staff and guests.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and take down riser seats, portable stages, temporary seating, and table arrangements.
  • Perform janitorial services and cleaning tasks with equipment such as floor machines, ride-on sweepers and scrubbers, and electric carts.
  • Follow set-up plans and event specifications; communicate professionally with staff and guests.
Working Hours and Conditions
  • There are multiple full-time positions with irregular work hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Shifts may include:
    Sunday–Tuesday 5:00 am–3:30 pm;
    Thursday–Saturday 5:00 am–3:30 pm;
    Sunday–Tuesday 1:30 pm–12:00 am;
    Thursday–Saturday 1:30 pm–12:00 am;
    Sunday–Tuesday 8:30 pm–7:00 am;
    Thursday–Saturday 8:30 pm–7:00 am.
Salary and Benefits

Pay Range: $19.54 – $30.31 per hour. Hiring Range: $19.54 – $20.51 per hour.

  • Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
  • Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be willing and able to learn the functions of an Event Services Worker. Other combinations of experience and education may be substituted.
  • Working irregular hours; second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required.
  • Move objects weighing up to 50 pounds (less than 20 feet) and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in custodial work and public assembly facilities (convention centers, arenas, etc.).
  • Experience with floor machines, ride-on sweepers/ scrubbers, and electric carts.
  • Willingness to work part-time and flexible hours.
