Job Summary

Engineering position is responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and components. This role applies engineering knowledge to support the planning, testing, and implementation of mechanical and electromechanical systems.

This job profile is intended for experienced professionals who apply practical knowledge of a job area and work independently with general supervision.

Recruiting for a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer (both job descriptions available) Mechanical Engineer Position Summary

The individual with this position will have to coordinate between the machine shop, quotation department and the customer. This position is mainly an on‑site position but might involve up to 10% field service work. This engineering position will entail a dual role with hands‑on tasks along with office responsibilities. It is expected that the individual will need training as part of the on‑boarding process and Sulzer will accommodate.

Job Requirements
  • Preferred 3 years’ experience in rotating equipment repairs
  • Preferred experience is in rotating equipment repairs; acceptable experience includes rotating equipment manufacturing and rotating equipment package design and assembly
  • Vibration analysis
  • Field Service‑Overhauls
  • Proficient with CAD software:
    Auto Desk or Solidworks
  • Preferred know‑how of rolling element bearings, sleeve babbitt bearings, oil seals and their functionality, vibration spectrums and how to interpret them, alignment, micrometer usage, seal and bearing clearance familiarity (expected to be learned on‑the‑job)
Role
  • The mechanical engineer will bridge communication with customers on the mechanical portion of the repair.
  • It will involve discovery side inspections to assist in developing an accurate workscope.
  • Should be proficient in CAD to document design changes and create drawings for customers.
  • The role requires hands‑on involvement in day‑to‑day operations.
  • Requires performing or confirming precise measurements using micrometers and calipers.

  • Responsible for assigned tasks and completing them in a timely manner
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate/Graduate Degree in mechanical engineering or related field
Electrical Engineer Position Summary

The individual with this position will split time between engineering team objectives, field service, field service reports, and shop engineering support. This engineering position will entail a dual role with hands‑on responsibilities as well as other engineering tasks. It is expected that the individual will need training as part of the on‑boarding process and Sulzer will accommodate.

Job Requirements
  • Preferred 0 – 4 years’ experience in electrical engineering
  • Experience with electric motor, generator repairs and design
  • Transformer repair and design
  • Switch gear design and diagnostics
  • Power semiconductors
  • Proficient in basic power theory
  • Know‑how of operation of induction motors, synchronous motors, transformer principles, and semiconductors
  • Winding insulation tests
Role
  • Perform on‑site field service preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on electromechanical equipment
  • Provide timely reports for jobs performed to the customer
  • Prioritize internal safety initiatives as assigned
  • Assist with shop projects that are electromechanical in nature
  • Hands‑on involvement in day‑to‑day operations
  • Based on proficiency, certain aspects of project management may also be assigned
