Environmental Compliance, Environmental Engineer
Location: Phoenix, Arizona (office in Chandler)
Travel: Required (up to 50%)
Salary: $55K - $75K per year (based on experience)
Description: Aquionix, Inc. (Aquionix) provides environmental, health and safety consulting services to a variety of business sectors such as mining, oil and gas, manufacturing and general industry. We strive to provide exceptional customer service and are known for providing solutions that exceed our customers’ expectations. We are seeking an ambitious individual to join our Chandler, Arizona office.
If the candidate is an engineer working towards their Professional Engineer (PE) License, they will receive service years towards their 4 year work experience requirement under an Aquionix PE.
Essential job functions and responsibilities will include:- General regulatory compliance assistance related to the CWA, RCRA, SPCC/FRP, EPCRA, CERCLA, UIC, CAA, OSHA, MSHA and related interpretation, research, regulatory liaison and reporting requirements
- Drafting stormwater management plans, SPCC plans, providing support/review of waste program/plan development
- Scheduling and performance of field sampling and monitoring for water quality samples
- Safe operation of a company vehicle on public roads and client sites (day and night)
- Project management for several smaller clients, including invoice review and proposal development
- Regulatory compliance auditing
- Review, audit, development and/or improvement of Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001), Safety Management Systems (ISO 45001) and Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001)
Education: A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related technical field is required.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have 1 - 3 years of applicable experience in the field of environmental compliance. The candidate must be proficient with Microsoft software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Experience in one or more of the following areas will also be preferred:- Reclamation (permitting)
- Surface and underground mining activities
- Oil and gas exploration and development
- Food and beverage industry
- General industry/manufacturing

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, detail oriented, creative/flexible problem solver with the ability to successfully manage several projects to completion at the same time. The successful candidate will also be able to think analytically, possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to interact with a large variety of clientele.
The successful candidate must pass a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening prior to employment.
