Controls Technician II
Job Description
Join a dynamic and innovative team as a Field Representative specializing in HVAC control systems. In this role, you will provide front-line technical and repair support while demonstrating professionalism and strong customer service at all times. You will collaborate closely with the Operations Team to ensure customer needs are met efficiently, projects are executed successfully, and systems perform as intended.
Responsibilities
+ Serve as a field representative, demonstrating courtesy and professionalism in all interactions.
+ Provide front-line technical and repair support through effective communication with internal teams.
+ Collaborate with the Operations Team to meet customer needs promptly and efficiently.
+ Respond to internal and external customer requests in a timely manner.
+ Perform troubleshooting, installation, start-up, and commissioning of HVAC control systems, including mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage components.
+ Execute project field work independently while ensuring quality and adherence to budgeted timelines.
+ Mentor other technicians in all aspects of project execution.
+ Review mechanical plans and control submittals to identify potential issues with devices, wiring, or sequences of operation.
+ Modify and troubleshoot control programming as needed for projects.
+ Conduct customer training sessions for completed projects.
+ Participate in company training and pursue self-directed learning to maintain technical expertise.
+ Document changes for as-built records and ensure accurate project billing.
+ Follow all safety standards and complete required safety training.
+ Keep management informed of job progress and potential issues.
+ Proactively manage processes and procedures, including email, Teams, Trello, project folders, labor logs, and expense submissions.
Essential Skills
+ Experience commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and programming building automation and HVAC control systems
+ Strong background with HVAC systems, control devices, electronics, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
+ Knowledge of DDC (Direct Digital Controls), airflow, hydronic systems, IT networking, analytics, and building controls technologies
+ Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the controls industry with HVAC exposure
+ Ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record and operate a company vehicle
+ Proficiency with Windows applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
+ Minimum of three (3) years performing point-to-point testing and verifying electrical connections
+ Minimum of three (3) years of commissioning experience testing newly installed equipment and systems
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+
Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
+ Familiarity with building maintenance and building automation systems
+ Experience working with Siemens PLC, Honeywell, and Schneider systems
+ Knowledge of building automation software, airflow, and hydronic systems
Work Environment
This position may require working in extremely hot or cold weather conditions. The role may also involve exposure to noisy or potentially hazardous environments, requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). There will be significant daily local travel to customer sites. Occasional overnight travel may be required for distant job sites or manufacturer training, typically lasting 2-5 days.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $63000.00 - $95000.00/hr.
