This Job Description outlines the responsibilities and qualifications for an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Engineer working within facilities that encompass chemical manufacturing and semiconductor fabrication. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with all EHS regulations, minimizing risk, and promoting a strong safety culture across highly technical and regulated environments.

1. Compliance and Regulatory Management
  • Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific EHS programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with local, state, federal, and international EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
2. Risk Assessment and Hazard Control
  • Perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), risk assessments, and ergonomic evaluations for all manufacturing, laboratory, and maintenance activities.
  • Oversee waste management programs, including the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, with a focus on chemical waste streams unique to the industries.
Required Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor's degree in EHS, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, or a related science/engineering field.
  • Experience:

    Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive EHS experience, specifically in a chemical processing/manufacturing or semiconductor fabrication environment.
  • Knowledge:
  • Strong working knowledge of US federal (OSHA, EPA) and state EHS regulations, or equivalent international standards.
  • In-depth understanding of PSM/RMP regulations and implementation.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and safety requirements for hazardous production materials (HPMs), particularly silane, phosphine, arsine, and other gases used in semiconductor processing.
  • Experience with chemical compatibility, storage, and transfer safety.
