The Honeywell Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) reduces the risk of controlled flight into terrain (CFIT) by providing flight crews with timely, accurate information about terrain and obstacles in the area. Honeywell's EGPWS leverages sophisticated technology, aircraft inputs and proprietary algorithms to predict and provide real-time warnings of potential conflicts with obstacles or terrain, helping to ensure safe navigation and avoidance of hazards during flight.

Additional features include Smart Runway and Smart Landing systems, SURF-A and ROAAS, developed to help flight crews avoid potential runway incursions and excursions.

As an Lead Systems Engineer within the Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance (CN&S) group, you will play an integral role in the design, development, and implementation of advanced Avionics solutions, notably (EGPWS) Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning Systems. In this role, you will impact the development and advancement of avionics technology, ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of aircraft systems. You will be responsible for developing and implementing EGPWS and related Terrain Awareness Avionics solutions (SURF-A, ROAAS), collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet product requirements, and staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to drive innovation.

Responsibilities

* Develop and implement Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) and related Avionics solutions that meet performance and safety standards

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems, hardware, software and test engineering to develop, test and ensure seamless integration of systems.

* Author high-level systems requirements in DOORS

* Conduct system-level analysis and optimization

* Systems integration, validation, & verification

* Model-based systems design and development

* Work closely with stakeholders to capture and manage system requirements.

* Ensure system specifications meet the broad array of requirements including safety, performance, and compliance

* Customer interaction

* Lead Project oversight, mentor and train more junior systems engineers

* Project coordination

* Support Project Engineer in budget/schedule responsibility

YOU MUST HAVE

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics

* Minimum of 8 years of experience in Systems Engineering, ideally in avionics, aerospace, communications or related disciplines

* Proficiency in system-level analysis and optimization

* Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

* Passion for innovation and continuous learning

WE VALUE

* Advanced knowledge of systems development lifecycle, methodologies, requirements management, and adherence to industry standards

* Familiarity with system integration and testing

* Experience in common avionics development tools like Jira, Bitbucket, DOORS, CC/CQ, Team Center, etc

* Leading customer interface meetings and representing product engineering

* Supporting audits and key program reviews

* Supporting and leading certification activities

* Support DO-178 B/C, DO-160 aerospace or other industry standards and processes

* Individuals that quickly analyze, incorporate and apply new information and concepts.

* Multi-tasking and has the ability to manage a variety of complicated tasks

* Ability to adapt dictated by project changes

* Making autonomous decisions

* Experience with some of the following is of value:

* Aircraft systems knowledge, pilot background

* Experience with EGPWS or TAWS or related

* Air Traffic Control procedures knowledge

* Flight Simulator and Flight Test experience is beneficial

* Experience with Integrated Modular Avionics(IMA) Systems Interface design

* Experience with ARP 4754
