Job Summary

Technical source of information for the project, knowledgeable of construction documents, subcontracts, purchase orders and change orders. Provides accurate answers to questions on drawings, specifications, shop drawings and change orders. Maintains professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers. May assist with supervising and/or training Field Engineers and participates in the progression through three experience levels (Entry, 3‑Year, Senior).

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand and apply the components of the Project Management Plan (scope, procurement, environmental, time, financial, quality, safety and risk). Demonstrate knowledge of the change‑management process.
  • Develop a procurement schedule, integrate it with the project CPM schedule, procure material and equipment, coordinate submittals, and review all submittals for contract compliance.
  • Apply knowledge of the prime contract, subcontracts, purchase‑order agreements and allowance items. Administer budgeting and cost‑control processes to keep projects within the approved budget and demonstrate business acumen.
  • Maintain “As‑built” contract documents and compile close‑out requirements—operation and maintenance manuals, warranties and other specifications.
  • Participate in concrete design, equipment selection, takeoffs and related activities for concrete, asphalt concrete, earthwork and utilities.
  • Plan, acquire, develop and supervise project team members to ensure relentless project execution.
  • Prepare quantity reports, coordinate project meeting agendas, prepare minutes and maintain project logs.
  • Prepare and review change orders, including time extensions, and maintain the change‑order log. Distribute executed change orders to field personnel and execute cost‑control budget adjustments promptly.
  • Prevent and mitigate/resolve claims by identifying potential claims and taking corrective action in a timely manner.
Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Four‑year construction‑related degree or equivalent technical training plus a minimum of three to four years of similar construction engineering experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards and their interdependencies across functional units.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to manage a team of varied disciplines.
  • Ability to supervise and/or train Field Engineer positions if required.
Physical Requirements
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.).
  • May reach above shoulder height and below waist on a frequent basis; may stoop, kneel, bend or climb stairs or ladders occasionally.
  • Use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis; lift, push or pull occasionally.
  • Use telephone, computer system, e‑mail or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
  • Must comply with all safety standards and procedures; interact with people frequently during shift/work day.
  • Must sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/work day.

Safety‑Sensitive – tasks may include operating vehicles, equipment, machinery, power tools, handling or disposing of hazardous or flammable materials.
