Program Summary

The K  Metrology team supports manufacturing, engineering & test, repair & overhaul, and aftermarket service centers globally for Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Medical, Safety, Semiconductor and other industries. Services include complete management of embedded metrology systems, calibration and repair, test & inspection, metrology engineering, preventive maintenance, NADCAP special process support, AMS
2750 Heat Treat pyrometry services, and more. The team works across K  and customer embedded laboratories, performs onsite visits with field service operations and mobile laboratory platforms, and ensures customer systems maintain high standards through calibration, preventative maintenance, automation and programming, recall system management, and audit support. Customer experience is enhanced by tracking performance metrics via digital dashboards, routine customer surveys, and direct meetings.

Job Summary

Metrology Technician is responsible for performing routine calibrations, tests and/or inspections in‑lab or on‑site using accredited standards and managing day‑to‑day escalations and priority requests. Calibrations, tests and inspections may be performed with or without automation. The role requires fluency in calibration procedures and hands‑on experience with test equipment calibration systems, and may provide assistance to entry‑level technicians as they learn new measurement procedures.

Roles And Responsibilities
  • Perform calibration and certification of electronic and physical/dimensional measuring and test equipment according to technical specifications, ensuring traceability to NIST.
  • Calibrate and repair equipment such as multimeters, frequency counters, timers, oscilloscopes, dimensional hand tools, blueprint‑controlled devices and fixtures, pressure devices, thermo‑hygrometers, scales, load cells, force devices, and weights.
  • Calibrate standards used in calibrations and maintain equipment to established performance standards.
  • Record maintenance activities in CMS, generate reports on test results, equipment conditions, repairs, and preventive maintenance, and prepare necessary documentation as required by customers and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize common laboratory measuring, calibrating, and test equipment.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma with 3+ years of experience in the field, OR associate’s degree in engineering technology or a relevant field with 3 years of experience.
  • Working knowledge of voltage, current, resistance, capacitance, time and frequency, signal conditioning, blueprint and drawings, dimensional tooling and hand tools, pressure controllers, pressure dead weight testers, force gauges and load cells, etc.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software, including Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Indy Soft, Fluke Met/Team, Fluke Met/Track, and Met/Cal systems.
  • Familiarity with laboratory measurement and calibration equipment.
  • Experience in calibration of mass and weights, and/or use of mass comparators.
