Distribution Management System; DMS Applications Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a Distribution Management System (DMS) Applications Engineer with experience with the DMS system, Field device communication and associated integrations to join our TRC Digital team. TRC Digital, a business unit within TRC, delivers IT/OT expertise and solutions to best address our client needs and has a proven track record supporting utilities in the deployment of complex operational technologies.

We are the trusted advisor and implementation partner for electric and gas utilities undergoing digital transformation and can offer deep experience across utility OT systems. The Distribution Management System (DMS) Applications Engineer will be an essential part of our team to grow our Engineering practice in the Operational Technology and Control Systems domain.

• Installation and configuration of advanced distribution management applications such as Distribution Power Flow (DPF), Fault Location Isolation & Service Restoration (FLISR), and Volt/VAR Control & Optimization (VVC/VVO).
• Attend and actively participate in workshops related to DMS implementation.
• Collaborate with customers to understand operational needs and support planning, configuration, testing, implementation, and cutover phases for DMS systems.
• Work with DMS leads and Technical leads to provide design documentation as needed for the DMS, SCADA, GIS integration and as part of the overall project.
• Conduct system and acceptance testing with end customers to ensure functionality and compliance.
• Assist with solutioning and mitigation of all related issues and defects.
• Travel to customer sites to deliver, test, and integrate systems directly with customers.

• 1-5 years of experience working directly on the SCADA/DMS systems and associated modules.
• Preferably, knowledge of products from at least one of the major ADMS vendors, such as GE, Aspen Tech/OSI, ABB, Schneider Electric; other vendors may be considered.
• Knowledge of one or more DMS processes and modules.
• Knowledge of utility operation and field device communication to support DMS workshops, configuration and roll out.
• Strong work ethic with a demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges.
• Solid OT systems background with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues across complex systems, with assistance from the DMS Lead as necessary.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Willingness to travel, averaging 25%.

Salary range: USD $90,000.00 - USD $ /Yr. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
