As part of a well‑established Power Delivery practice, you will manage overhead and/or underground distribution line projects throughout the region and beyond. You will manage the full project lifecycle, provide technical leadership, and oversee business development and proposal creation.
- Managing and leading distribution projects from scope/proposal development to execution, closeout, quality control, schedule, and budget.
- Working independently and mentoring one or more Project Engineers, EITs, Designers, CADD Technicians, and administrative staff.
- Leading the QA/QC process in accordance with HDR’s Quality Management Systems.
- Overseeing non‑engineering components such as public involvement, environmental permitting, right‑of‑way acquisition, and construction management.
- Assessing team workload, quality, utilization, morale, providing training, and conducting annual performance reviews.
- Leveraging company resources to deliver world‑class services to regional clients.
- Performing client management, project management, staff supervision, and technical support.
- Coordinating hiring plans with Talent Acquisition for a distribution professionals group.
- Engaging in broader business development with existing and target clients.
- BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 4 years of distribution design experience.
- Minimum 6 years of overall experience, including prior project management and staff management.
- Excellent client management, marketing, and business development skills with contacts in power delivery clients.
- Experience managing staff, clients, contracts, and hiring for an engineering consulting firm.
- Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams across regions, departments, technical managers, and project staff.
- Commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and HDR values.
- FE, PE license preferred; PMP may substitute for PE.
- Act as client manager and/or project manager for selected clients.
- Development of technical papers or presentations at industry conferences.
- Experience estimating costs and developing a BOM.
- Familiarity with electrical and planning analysis software (CYMCAP, ETAP, Polywater Pull Planner).
- Experience with pole‑loading analysis tools (O‑calc, Spida Calc, Pole Foreman).
- Proficiency with CAD packages for electrical distribution (PLS‑CADD, Micro Station, AutoCAD, ArcGIS).
- Experience with new business designs for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
- Experience with reliability, grid modernization, and conversion projects.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 7 years of related experience.
- At least 2 years of project management experience.
- Strong organizational, project management, and communication (written and verbal) skills.
