Salary Range: $100,000 – $125,000 annually (depending on experience)

Reports To: Director of Preconstruction or Chief Estimator

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our dynamic construction team in Phoenix, AZ. This role is critical in shaping the success of our mechanical projects by delivering accurate and competitive cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and other mechanical systems in commercial and industrial construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the estimating process for mechanical scopes on design-build and plan-spec projects
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and project documents to prepare detailed cost estimates
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather pricing and scope details
  • Develop and maintain cost databases, historical pricing, and vendor relationships
  • Conduct site visits and pre-bid meetings to assess project conditions and risks
  • Prepare and present bid proposals and value engineering options to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Assist in contract negotiations and scope reviews
  • Mentor junior estimators and support staff
Qualifications
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in mechanical estimating within the construction industry
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with design-build and GMP projects
  • Familiarity with the local Phoenix market and subcontractor base
  • LEED certification or experience with sustainable building practices is a plus
