Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects, a national multi-disciplined engineering and architecture consulting firm, is currently seeking a full-time Environmental Professional to join our growing team in Phoenix, Arizona. We’re looking for someone who is ready to jump in and help our project managers with field work, research, and report writing, and build relationships with both internal and external clients.

In this position, you will perform fieldwork, evaluate potential environmental impacts and mitigation requirements, and write technical reports on a variety of transportation, railroad, land development, and stormwater/wastewater projects. In this position you will be introduced to various environmental resource analysis including but not limited to biological resources, hazardous materials, water resources, historic resources, and others. Strong writing skills are required and experience with GIS is preferred but not required.

- Provide technical environmental resource assistance for various resources as mentioned earlier
- Conduct fieldwork as it relates to project needs, includes travel throughout Arizona and out-of-state travel to support a national environmental program
- Assist in preparing resource reports, including technical memos
- Complete database reviews and background research to support NEPA documents and prepare NEPA documentation
- Assist with mapping and GIS tasks
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with engineering professionals in a variety of disciplines across Wilson & Company to meet project goals, and other key staff to build client relationships in the states where Wilson & Company is conducting environmental project work.
- Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Planning or similar discipline
- Ability to work on a team of professionals to accomplish project and program goals
- Task management skills with proven ability to complete work on schedule and within budget
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft suite
- Familiarity with digital mapping systems and willingness to learn GIS
- 2+ years of experience conducting environmental analysis including biological and water resources
- Proficient in GIS
- Experience in identification of flora and fauna and special status species’ habitat
- Experience coordinating with environmental resource and regulatory agencies
- Technical writing skills with experience authoring NEPA documents.
- Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and relevant experience with hazardous materials
