Position Summary: A Fire Design Engineer II in our Retail Sector is responsible for designing intermediate building systems, preparing design documents and performing engineering calculations in coordination with project teams. They are responsible for occasional task management and mentoring of less experienced designers.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs calculations and designs basic to intermediate design systems with minimal supervision.
- Prepares system layouts, detailed drawings and schematics.
- Reviews shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications.
- Prepares or modifies reports, plans and designs for projects.
- Performs research and makes recommendations as to the feasibility of systems or equipment. Evaluates products for their application.
- Provides technical guidance to others when appropriate.
- Collaborates on business development or pursuit activities.
- Participates in client, company and/or industry events to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Fosters a client-centric mindset and approach.
- Communicates with clients as needed for the development and coordination of requirements and scope of work. Maintains proactive communication throughout the project cycle.
- Answers questions from clients and architects.
- Visits job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
- Assists in resolving conflicts involving owners, architects and contractors as needed.
- Identifies and seeks to fill gaps in industry and/or discipline knowledge on a continuous basis.
