Certification Engineer Job Description

As a Junior Certification Engineer with 0-3 years of experience, you will focus on maintaining TSO, PMA, and Modification certification activities for seatbelt airbag systems and core restraint product lines. Your role includes obtaining TSOA, PMA, and Modification approvals through the US FAA and foreign certification authorities.

• Participate in industry events, symposiums, FAA training classes, and SAE committees as assigned.
• Communicate effectively with certification authorities, management, engineering, program management, and sales/marketing personnel to provide regulatory guidance.
• Develop an understanding of aviation certification requirements for products including FAA TSO, PMA, and others.
• Maintain strong working relationships with key customers.
• Have a working knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 23 and 25 and associated FAA advisory material.
• Understand FAA TSOA, CFR, PMA, EASA CRI, FAA Special Conditions, and Modification processes.
• Provide guidance within the certification group regarding documentation, procedures, and data submittals.
• Oversee and ensure accuracy and completeness of certification documentation data submittals.
• Interface with US FAA and foreign Certification Authorities for issue resolution and status updates.
• Determine and evaluate inflatable restraint system certification requirements for customers, seat OEMs, and aircraft OEMs.
• Develop certification test plans and reports.
• Coordinate with engineers during product development and improvement, and conduct developmental engineering tests.

• Knowledge of FAA, Certification, TSOA, PMA, and aircraft certification processes.
• Experience with aircraft seating or furniture.
• Understanding of certification requirements for inflatable restraint systems.

• Bachelor's Degree desired, but not required.
• Minimum of five years of previous experience in aircraft system certification (Type Certification Modifications, Supplemental Type Certification programs, FAA/JAA/EASA).

Work in an office environment within a manufacturing setting that specializes in aircraft seatbelts and airbags.

This is a Permanent position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
