Position Summary

The NPI/CI Manager is responsible for leading the introduction of new products into production while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. This role ensures new product launches are executed smoothly, efficiently, and on schedule, while also identifying and implementing process improvements that reduce waste, improve quality, and increase operational performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • New Product Introduction (NPI)
    • Lead the end-to-end process for new product introductions, from initial concept through production release.
    • Develop and manage project timelines, deliverables, and cross‑functional coordination with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Supply Chain.
    • Ensure manufacturing readiness, including process documentation, work instructions, routings, and tooling requirements.
    • Conduct process validations, capability studies, and pilot builds to ensure manufacturability and product quality.
    • Manage engineering change orders (ECOs) and coordinate implementation with all stakeholders.
    • Oversee risk management and apply FMEA methodologies to proactively identify and mitigate issues.
  • Continuous Improvement (CI)
    • Drive Lean manufacturing initiatives across all departments, including 5S, Kaizen, standard work, waste elimination, and workflow optimization.
    • Use data‑driven analysis such as value‑stream mapping, root‑cause analysis, and SPC to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
    • Lead cross‑functional CI projects with measurable ROI and performance outcomes.
    • Support the implementation of automation, process enhancement, and cost‑reduction strategies.
    • Develop and maintain CI metrics and dashboards to track progress and sustain improvements.
  • Leadership & Collaboration
    • Lead and facilitate cross‑functional project teams.
    • Provide training, coaching, and mentorship in Lean, problem‑solving, and CI methodologies.
    • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain to maintain a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or related field (preferred).
    • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, NPI, or CI roles.
    • Proven experience leading Lean/CI initiatives and cross‑functional project management.
    • Experience with ISO, AS9100, or other industry‑specific quality systems (preferred).
    • Background in metal fabrication, aerospace, machining, or mechanical assembly (a plus).
  • Skills & Competencies
    • Strong project management and organizational skills.
    • Proficient in Lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, VSM, PDCA, SMED, and root‑cause analysis.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and facilitation abilities.
    • Ability to read engineering drawings and understand manufacturing processes.
    • Analytical, data‑driven, and detail‑oriented.
    • Strong problem‑solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work on the production floor as needed.
  • May require standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment
  • Office and manufacturing floor environment.
  • Occasional exposure to noise, machinery, and standard shop conditions.
