Director, Engineering R&D

Quantum Global Technologies, LLC

The Director, Engineering R&D will join us in one of the following locations:
Phoenix, AZ;
Austin, TX;
Hillsboro, OR; or Fremont, CA.

We are looking for a talented engineer with a multi‑faceted skill set, analytical mindset, and a strong understanding of the new and used parts cleaning business. The role will drive the success of part cleaning, coating and refurbishment and collaborate with Engineering, Sales and Marketing on strategy, product development and process innovation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead a team to evaluate new technologies and scale them into production with handoff to operations and local engineering.
  • Develop strategies for process and product optimization, market penetration, and diversification.
  • Directly manage R&D personnel in Special Projects, Research and Development, NPI, and IP efforts.
  • Identify and guide subject‑matter experts in Technology Centers of Excellence (e.g., Coatings, Automation, Surface Preparation, Chemical Processing, Metrology, Microcontamination).
  • Facilitate continuous improvement for each TCE.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and customers as Corporate Engineering representative, ensuring needs are communicated across the organization.
  • Build and maintain peer support and interdepartmental relationships.
  • Work with Site Engineering, Quality, Facilities, EH&S, Operations to meet quality, safety, environmental and regulatory goals.
  • Collaborate with Executive Leadership, Senior Leadership, Finance, IT, HR and other departments to secure resources.
  • Lead projects to implement new technologies, proliferate existing Best Known Methods, and optimize processes.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Expert in semiconductor parts cleaning, coatings, and cleaning equipment.
  • Proficiency in managing analytically rigorous initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal and team‑building skills; ability to influence across functional boundaries.
  • Excellent project, product, planning, and organization skills, handling multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Continuous‑improvement mindset; ability to suggest and implement best practices.
  • Self‑starter with integrity, clear communication.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and other process‑improvement methods.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and related systems.
Educational / Certification Requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Sciences.
Work Experience
  • Minimum 15 years of engineering experience in product engineering and/or quality engineering.
  • Five years of successful people‑management experience.
  • Minimum 10 years in the semiconductor equipment industry, or:
    • 10 years in the OEM engineering manufacturing industry.
  • Experience developing and implementing complex corporate programs.
  • Comfortable presenting to senior executive staff and external customer executives.
Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in an office environment with reasonable accommodations available.

  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.

  • Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Potential exposure to moderate noise from printers, faxes, computers.
Overnight Travel
  • Travel may be required for training and meetings, including extended periods for new projects and technology starts.
