The SMART GRID ENGINNER III/SR provides technical engineering design economic and analytical support to participate in the development of long-range system plans and conducting of engineering requests proposals and presentations.
- Performs engineering tasks requiring skills and experience gained through application of engineering methods and analysis.
- Has increasing responsibility for technical decisions and interpretations.
- Provides technical guidance and leadership to others as needed.
- May be subject to shift work.
Engineer III
- A four-year Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET accredited institution an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution or an ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) plus five (5) years working experience in Engineering-related positions.
- Approved Engineer degrees:
Materials Science/Metallurgy Physics Chemistry Math Nuclear Electrical Mechanical Civil Electronics Computer Science Environmental Chemical Architectural Structural. (A four-year bachelor of Engineering Technology degree isnot considered an automatic equivalent for a B.S. degree in Engineering. A review of the degree program curriculum must be completed by Engineering department management.)
Engineer Senior
- A four year Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET accredited institution plus eight (8) years working experience in Engineering-related positions.
- Approved degrees:
Materials Science/Metallurgy Physics Chemistry Math Nuclear Electrical Mechanical Civil Electronics Computer Science Environmental Chemical Architectural Structural. (A four-year bachelor of Engineering Technology degree is not considered an automatic equivalent for a B.S. degree in Engineering. A review of the degree program curriculum must be completed by Engineering department management.)
- Familiarity with reliability and/or power quality technology i.e. voltage regulators capacitor banks line sensors reclosers / supervisory switches dynamic VAR control control/relay panels for various substation devices and other SCADA controlled devices
- Strong R&D analytical and communication skills with demonstrated ability to think strategically innovate stay current with industry trends and developments and align technology solutions to technical business requirements for successful selection and execution of technology demonstration pilots.
- Advanced or technical degree or certificate in areas such as:
Electrical Engineering Technology Technology Innovation Power Systems Automation SCADA systems network communications engineering & technology construction project management technology project management - Working knowledge any of the following: load flow analysis short circuit analysis state estimation load management distribution operations
- Experience with software and systems such as Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) CYME and similar power engineering software OSI PI Data Historian IBM Maximo Power Base Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system (SCADA) and DNP3 and/or Cellular network protocols
- Training and assisting with the creation design configuration validation installation commissioning and operation of automation and/or protection systems.
- Knowledge of applicable codes standards practices methods and safety standards in electrical and power systems engineering.
- Professional Engineer licensure
