Why This Role?As interconnection projects grow, you will be a technical expert in metering, collaborating with regulatory bodies such as the California ISO Energy Imbalance Market and driving continuous improvement in metering processes.
What You’ll Do- Design, configure, and implement metering solutions for interconnection and PPA projects.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards (e.g., CAISO, Energy Imbalance Market).
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert for unique and complex metering scenarios.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to optimize metering performance and accuracy.
- Provide final technical decisions and solutions that drive operational success.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in metering strategies and execution.
- Extensive hands‑on experience with metering systems and revenue metering.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to solve complex metering challenges and provide expert technical guidance.
- Experience leading metering projects and collaborating across multiple teams.
- Four‑year bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science from an ABET accredited institution.
- Two years working experience in engineering‑related positions.
- Bachelor’s degree with five years of engineering‑related experience.
- Problem analysis/resolution techniques.
- Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and safety standards in the engineering discipline.
- Experience in the utility industry.
- Experience in the nuclear industry for jobs at Palo Verde.
- Professional Engineer licensure.
- Develop and apply unique solutions to broad technical metering issues requiring creative approaches.
- Make decisions and recommendations with moderate to significant effect on overall organization performance.
- Prepare complex engineering plans, designs, analyses, specifications, cost estimates, and studies.
- Check and review analysis and investigations of others.
- Integrate interrelated elements of large‑scope projects, including interconnection, renewable generation, and distributed energy resources.
- Interface with customers and departments to ensure project objectives meet requirements and schedules.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to less experienced engineers.
- Assist in problem solving, develop long‑range strategies, and lead investigations into billing inaccuracies.
- Leverage industry resources to resolve key technical issues and develop future strategies.
