Field Service Engineer
A Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing dealer support to identify hardware and software malfunctions by means of diagnostic analysis and customer input for MUTOH America, Inc., large format printing equipment. This position requires a high level of mechanical and technical skills to provide excellent customer service. A Field Service Engineer establishes and maintains business relationships with dealers and peers as well as performing necessary administrative duties as required.
This position reports to the Service Manager at our corporate office in Phoenix, AZ. This is a full-time office position with moderate travel required.
- Take inbound service calls from MUTOH America Inc. authorized dealers to assist in the evaluation of hardware and software issues for large format print equipment.
- Analyze and resolve technical issues related to MUTOH printer equipment and plotters.
- Travel to support dealer break-fix and installations.
- Provide training for dealer technicians to better service and train on equipment.
- Perform in office break-fix refurbishment for equipment resale.
- Perform in office break-fix to support MUTOH show room.
- Train the end-user on the functionalities of MUTOH hardware and software
- Process returns and warranty OEM part replacement.
- Travel at least 20% of the time.
- Associate's degree or Certification in a mechanical or technical field.
- Bachelor's Degree – a plus, not required.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience using Flexi Sign or other RIP large format design software.
- Experience in printing industry or printing equipment is preferred.
- Knowledge of MUTOH America, Inc. products – a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong mechanical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong time management skills and ability to work productively with minimal supervision
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Understanding of tools and technology needed to complete repairs (tools are provided)
- Ability to kneel, crouch, stand for up to 8 hours at a time, sit and drive for long periods of time, lift printers onto a stand, carry/move equipment weighing up to 100lbs.
